About

One plant, one team, and the people who run it are in the building.

Formology Lab is a personal-care contract manufacturer in Chatsworth, Los Angeles. One 20,000-square-foot plant with three filling lines, a chemistry and regulatory group down the hall from the floor, and fifty people who have done this before. Owned and run by its founder since 2017, with no outside capital.

Management

The people who will actually answer your call.

Fifty people work here: formulation chemists, a regulatory group with experience across several countries, a QC laboratory, planning and customer teams, and the crews on the three lines. The company is owned and led by its founder, with no outside investors, which is why the minimum is published rather than negotiated. These five are the ones on the phone, on the floor and on the file.

The plant

Everything happens under one roof.

Formulation, compounding, filling, packing and release are done in the same building by the same people. Nothing is sub-contracted out and brought back; a batch that starts here finishes here.

How it is run

The floor is watched by cameras, and every unit has a record.

Over the last two years the plant was rebuilt around software written in-house: one system holds every order, formula, batch, lot and quality check, and the lines are monitored around the clock with in-line camera inspection. The practical result for a brand is that a fill weight or a label that drifts is caught while the batch is still running, and that any unit can be traced to its lots and its tests.
